If a spirit died and chose not to resurrect, would it know that chose not to resurrect when summoned via a Contact Ancient Dead formal?

Is a spirit (or living creature) aware of its death bag count? For example the Contact Ancient Dead specifies the spirit cannot recall the last 24 hours prior to its permanent death. What if during that 24 hour period the spirit died 2 or 3 times, would it know that fact because of its death bag count?

An undead creature was turned into an undead 500 years ago but was permanently slain 10 years ago. For the purposes of the Contact Ancient Dead formal, which event determines how long ago it died?

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but the plot writer / NPC in charge of the encounter makes the call. Sometimes people forget things when they've been dead for 500 years. But there's no hard rules about what an ancient spirit may remember from life. So your mileage may vary.

The Contact Ancient Dead formal has a limit to how far back you can reach the dead (I think it is 10 years per formal level). Does the caster have to reach back 10 years or 500 years is what I was wondering.

Normally it marks from when your permanent death is, but ultimately it will be a question for the plot committee based on whether or not the act of becoming undead was part of permanently killing the character you're trying to contact. For example, right now, the PC mechanic for becoming a lich involves getting a transform, permanently dying, and then rising up as a lich NPC who presumably runs around for awhile before someone kills him for good. The PC permed long before the lich was destroyed. And when you're talking about an NPC from the get go, the ways they wind up as undead are much more varied.
