Hey folks,

A question for the community,

If I have a tag for a 20 point suit of enhanced armor, and another tag for a 10 point of enhanced armor enchanted with 10 points of arcane armor, and I rep 30, can I Use both tags to get 30+10 arcane?

what if I have 6 tags, for 2 chainmail bracers , 2 greaves and 2 thigh guards, each rated at 2 points can I wear all 6 tags for 12 points?

I'm not an official source, but I'm almost positive is you can't combine tags.

The previous armor playtest that 9th ed subsumed permitted you to combine tags. However the 9th ed version is silent on this one way or another, unless National clarifies it.

Phil's right - originally we did have text that explained how this works but it got lost in the editorial process. I'm polling the rules group now and will get back to you with a clarification.

from what i understand, under 8th edition you could combine armor tags through armorsmithing. but this was for production purposes. not actually wearing them.

essentially an armorsmith could turn 2 armor tags into 1 which you could wear.

but as far as using 2 tags, the only way that would have been possible was having a suit of armor designated as your armor suit. and the second being a magic item that you arent "wearing" but can benefit from the effects of it.

like banes, cloaks activates or arcane armor. i dont see anywhere where it says you have to be wearing the armor to benefit from arcane armor magic on it.

given your example. this is how i feel it works.

TAG 1 enhanced armor 20
TAG 2 enhanced armor 10 arcane armor 10

end result=
wear TAG 1 get full benefits.
TAG 2 get only arcane armor from it.

second scenario.

6 tags total. ask an armorsmith to combine them all into 1 suit which you can wear. at logistics.

For reference here's the passage from the 8th ed Armor Playtest:

A player may use multiple tags of armor to add together to form a higher point
total suit. However a chapter may release specific armor tags specifying exactly
what part that specific suit covers. If a player is using a specific they may not use
another specific tag that covers the same area. For example a player may use a
two suits that just say Platemail 15 points of armor and be able to wear a rep for
30 points, but they cannot wear two suits that say breastplate simultaneously.

seems like the playtest overwrote the rules. was really up to the chapter on whether or not they used those armor rules or not.

not entirely sure if the playtest made it into 9th edition or not.

i know certain elements of armor suite made it into the 9th edition changelog. but that specific text dosent seem to be copy pasted anywhere i can find.
