I am quit amazed at the statements being made by some of the members who have chosen to jump to outrageous conclusions based upon vaguely written descriptions of changes that are being discussed and who seem to have forgotten all about the goal of the post – to brainstorm and help National and the Local Chapters build the rule or policy so it can be the best possible. CLARIFICATION National requested feedback from the player base to help build a strong set of rules and policy and we shared many many topics with the owners and the member base so we could brainstorm together. We realize we put the doc out too soon, but a hostile toward National owner leaked the doc too soon, and forced us to put the poorly explained and vague document out. WHAT NATIONAL IS LOOKING FOR We'll listen, and put a weight on it, if each of the members wants to give us feedback that say’s “do not implement this”, but we aren't even looking for that. We are looking for “this is how we see this working best” and “these are the reasons why we should go with x instead of y”, and “these are the major obstacles we envision we’ll need to overcome the changes as they are, and if we make them x we’ll have these obstacles or no obstacles at all”. What I mean to say is - by the time it gets around to being talked about with the chapter owners, senior management has already decided it will move forward with the change in some manner, and now it’s up to all of us to brainstorm and share ideas so a change that is beneficial to the business and game are generated and implemented. ITERATION #2 – Moving Forward! We are almost done with iteration #2, which still has much of the items in draft-brainstorm form, and we look forward to the continued feedback and ideas from the member base to help us implement the best changes possible. Most of the item will have their implementation date pushed back by 30 days as we continue to brainstorm and get feedback from the owners and the member base and finalize the changes. There are several items that have gone into effect already or as of today so we'll start with those first so everyone knows what is active already, then we'll post the remainder to continue their discussions. We'll need to tweak the items as we move forward and things get integrated with each other, so we'll all need to keep up the conversation throughout the year. From the way this post is worded it appears to me that the changes you speak of are going to happen whether anyone likes it or not, but can be shaped with some feedback. That is not asking for input, persay. That is saying "you're getting this one way or the other. Figure out which way sucks the least." Granted, some of these policies may actually be good ideas, but it puts a bad taste in the mouth of players when approached in such a way. Am I missing something? | ||

That isn't exactly what I was saying but it could be considered close. I'm saying that the entire set of topics that was presented to the member base was in its concept stage and entirely too vaguely written with missing words and too-brief sentences, meant for 'brainstorming the concept/idea' not 'voting for the immediate use of it or not'. We aren't going to shelve any of them until we flesh each of them out more and hear more pros or cons for or against a topic. We are in the concept stage and brainstorming, not in 'shoot this idea down' mode. We are moving into development mode since we got so many really good ways to make these things work fro mso many owners and players. So, I think its important for everyone to know that we will continue forward with develping the proposed changes to see if we can come up with a plausible change that is good for the game and organization as a whole. Right now, there is considerable beleive that if we continue with the brainstorming and development stage, we will see good results, and we are estatic to have so many nero members taking part in the brainstorming and offering us ideas on how to make things work for everyone involved. I briefly went over the 150 responses we recieved from the members via the online database, and the responses we recieved from the owners, and i'm excited about what I read and what it all means. I have another letter that hopefully will get us all back on track and working together to make awesome game changges. Also, I really thinnk that once you see the 2nd iteration and the updates done to some of the items based on feedback that gaves us ways to make things not-bad, most people will understnad the very-raw-form that the first document was in and get on board and help us come up with even more ideas that will make the change good and not bad. Maybe the best way to look at it is fro man example. People love Cloak, so let's look at that. == Cloak is going away, and existing ones will need ot be made int osomething else, and the simple fix is to make cloak items shield magic. but, after we get ideas from everyone, we come up with this next iteration to be looked at... == Cloak will likely become Resist Magic, and whose call will be "Resisit Basically, Let's not give up on an idea, let's share ideas and improve upon it so we can achieve the goal (in the case of cloak we reduce the game calls by 1 and can add another call in its place. I knwo we got sidetracked due to the confusion of the changes, but we have so much to do that we shold focus on giving 'i can make this change work if we did x y or z). I mean, if we can get done with the solidication and get rid of cloak and bane calls, we can much more comfrtable adding natrue magic skills and abiliiites (witout overwhelming the base with too many rules). I briefly looked at the nature magic stuff i was sent by Jason Mote and Jeremy Kennedy and there are some good skills, abilites, etc. that we can add so I also want to target that for addition at the same time we are looking to improve the game and organization as whole. i'd really like to seperate the plot from the game rules so we can refer to game rules in the plot doc - acquire all of these twenty four skills and you will be welcomed by the druids/nauralists, and we list whatever skills necesary to be the 'tier 1 naturalist' and then add 5 more skills to be a tier 2 naturalist, and we can add 'naturalist skills to earth and celestial and fighter anmd rogue classes that anyone can buy. Everyone is very excited with the amount of participation we received in such a short period of time – thank you! National will continue to embrace the ideas, opinions and preferences of the player base as a whole. With the implementation of the NERO Online Polling System into the online member database in January of 2013, we experienced amazing results and look forward to using the polling system as the primary medium to collect ideas, opinions and preferences from NERO Members worldwide whenever we are considering a change. National is embracing the use of the member polling system through the online database. National has always recognized the importance of engaging the NERO Member base and the member polling system will provide us with a direct link with the membership that will help us improve the game and the organization as a whole. National is continuing to have people across the country join staff and they are helping greatly. We'll be adding more staff so if you are interested in joining national staff, we'd love to have you. National still maintains that as we continue down the path that we started – to brainstorm game and policy changes that are in the concept and development stage - without interference from hostile pessimists trying to cause dissent, and with the inclusion of the NERO Membership, we will develop a good set of changes, and we'll all be satisfied with the results that come from our effort. As for the changes, nothing is going into effect immediately other than a few of the most important items until we share and get more information from everyone. We won't be moving super-slow, but we aren't going to pass up this opportunity to develop a better relationship with our member base through the polling system, and we never intended to implement any of the changes without them being fully vetted. The confusion about the changes and the amount of feedback caused most of them to be pushed out by 30, 60 or 90 days while we evaluate the pros and cons. We'll be placing a new version of the game changes for discussion out in a few days. The topics will not be as vague as they were before, and we've altered many due to the very good feedback from everyone. We are looking for more creative people from the local chapters and from the general membership to join the creative team, so if you're interested, feel free to PM me and i'll get you into the forums we created for people who want to write and produce national based stories at local chapters. Will - I sure will. I am absolutely amazed by the number of people who have contacted me and been represented here that left NERO due to thier primary character permanently dieing. I am excited to hear about the cool stories that some chapters plot teams did for thier players whose characters perm'd too - I enjoyed reading every sentence of what was shared. Overall, it's taking a little more time for me to get things because I am enjoying the conversations I am having with the general membership here and on facebook, and I'm spending more time on answering questions and explaining things than originally expected. The "Return From Perm 2013 Service" is almost completly written up so I hope it will be done within a few days so it can be tweaked and solidifed by the end of next week. I have other things to concentrate on the following week plus 30 days to prepare for the national event - like the national event tie in service. I would like to see the Race Changes tweaked and usable by april, and everyoen on board, and that will be going strong throughout everything. What's Active? Perm Death BY Choice 2013, Buy Build Services like "Donate To National and Receive Build as a thank you, called Character level up, and Character Build Purchase, both available on the shop. we'll be adding Return From Perm 2013, welcome back to nero, and one or two more that are related to helping the member get back into the game. Putting mostly everything else aside, my goal other than fundraising and customer related services, is to use the NeroLarp forums in conjunction with the NERO DB Member Polling System to review all other changes throughout the year with every NERO Member who wants to provie an idea, a comment or a preference. | ||

![]() Registered Member #2746 Joined: Thu Jul 12 2012, 06:12AMPosts: 76 | Joe the only thing you might want to look at is a lot of chapters only run spring/summmer/early fall events so you might want to push wait till the end of summer so every one will have had a chance to try out the options prior to making a something stick. Thats just my 2 cents. | ||
